Dr. Kirberg, 
After rereading my response to your message I regret having
posted it.  I sound strident, arrogant and defensive.  I suppose I felt
that I was being attacked simply for having made a speculative guess,
which from my understanding is the way to find out new information.  
But in "defending myself" I think I began to sound precisely like the 
sort of person I would most take issue with.  And I find that regrettable.
