Why could not a cell which is infected with a virus which has not evolved to
inhibit apoptosis (like adenoviruses and papilomaviruses do),
undergoing CD4+ T-cell (fas/fas-ligand) mediated apoptosis which is
anti-viral?

The receptor/ligand pairs of TNF family members regulate
cell death through apoptosis, both positively and negatively.
(Lederman S et al. Current Opinions in Immunology 1993, 5:439-444)
Therefore, should not the anti-viral effects of the TNF family of ligands and
receptors [TNF-alpha, TNF- beta,CD40/CD40 ligand ("CD40 ligand has
potent anti-viral activity." Nature Medicine, May 1995)] also be
considered as regulators of apoptosis during viral infection?
