What happened to virology?

I wish that I could be more patient but I cannot. I am very
dissatisfied with how the group has been progressing over
the past few weeks. I wish that I could see an end in sight.
I consider myself to be liberal, very tolerant, and professional.
However, I am not tolerant enough to delete several
posts that have nothing to do with virology. I have been
involved with computers since I was a child and present
on the net since I started college. Many people including
myself used nettiquette from the very beginning.
Nettiquette is basically having some level of respect for
others. One of the most fundamental rules of nettiquette
is not to come screaming into a newsgroup. Rather, one
should lurk to find out about current threads and nettiquette
particular to that newsgroup. However, I have noticed an
increasing number of new users who have no clue about
netiquette. For the FIRST TIME EVER, I'm disappointed
in net users. Bionet.virology is not the place to be discussing
guns, ATF, ect. This is a forum for virologists. I'm
disappointed more than anything else. People on the net
encounter many different people all over the world. One
must remain tolerant of other views and attitudes and I
always try. However, newsgroups are established for
certain purposes. The sad part is there are several newsgroups
all ready established to discuss any of the topics that have
emerged on bionet.viology. I always found it amazing that
people are so quick to post something that they would think
twice about saying. For all of you in the US that are so concerned
government controlling your lives, censorship on the net is
not all that improbable. Just keep that in mind.
