This paper refers to RNA, not DNA, namely tobacco mosaic virus RNA. It is 
the first full paper by F.-C., but not the first one on the infectivity of 
free TMV RNA, which is: Gierer, A., and Schramm, G. (1956) Infectivity of 
ribonucleic acid from tobacco mosaic virus. Nature 177: 702-703.
