Speaking as an armchair hack, I have to agree. I came here to be
informed. That, in my opinion, is was the usenet is all about. In order
to be informed, however, it's neccessary for me to be interacting with
people who are at least as informed as I am. I came to the virology
group in hopes of hearing what the "experts" had to say. Unfortunately,
there's so much noise from people no more informed than I am, that's it's
hard to get any signal.
I believe in free speech, but try talking over the professor in the
middle of a
middle of a lecture. If you want to be informed, then I suggest
following the advice already given and do some lurking, or read a book or
two. If there's a question you just can't find the answer to, I bet
these nice folks would be happy to answer it. Just keep in mind that
they're busy people who were here first, and are trying to get some work
done.
If this keeps up, I bet the "experts" will just go to a more "elitest"
forumthat we can't get to, and this group will become useless to all but
the loudmouths and those credulous enough to believe them.
With apologies for taking up yet more band width, I sign off.
