Hello Candy and all,
I'm not an expert in this field, just a curious individual who's
fascinated by this virus. Candy asked about why the 120-mile containment
among other things. IMHO, I think officials are trying to downplay this in
order not to cause panic. But as the news spreads, so does fear. I wonder
about the reporters covering this outbreak. Are they wearing anything
protective? I've seen footage from areas of Zaire and I think "Dangerous."
I wouldn't want to be anywhere near a level four hot zone. No thanks.
I also wonder why more reports haven't been done on Reston Ebola, of which
Richard Preston wrote about in his book, "The Hot Zone." I live about five
miles or so from the famed "monkey house." Currently, it stands
unoccupied. I believe it will be demolished. The Reston strain was
airborne. I would hate to think about the strains combining. That's scary.
I would think the CDC and WHO would take this very seriously. I'm sure
they are. I just hope beaurcracy doesn't stand in the way of human life.
