Perhaps, this filovirus has an intermediate insect host, like a biting 
fly.  The spread of the virus and interval between outbreaks might be 
explained by cycles in the size and distribution of the population of 
this hypothetical insect.  Many of the minus strand RNA viruses are 
spread like this. However, this is just a suggestion.
