Ebola+dirty needles in US?

The CDC seems to be playing down the threat to the west from Ebola, since
apparently it isn't spread through the air.

Lets assume someone brings it in to the US and instead of getting sick and
going to the hospital the first thing they do is go to an NYC shooting
gallery to get a fix?

I believe heroin addicts have to shoot up several times a day, giving 
several opportunities everyday for the spread of the virus from shared
needles. Given the number of sick nurses I have to assume that the
probability of catching Ebola from a single dirty needle is very high.

In the days before anyone would notice how far would the disease get?
When someone did notice what could be done? Politicians have already
stated that they would rather let 100's of thousands of people die
than allow the distribution of clean needles.

Does anyone out there have simulations setup for HIV spread which they
could adapt to see what would happen if Ebola began to be spread by
dirty needles in the US?

If politicians did decide to sit by and watch 100's of thousands die as
they have with HIV, what are the odds of Ebola mutating to an Airborne
strain in the process?
