The other thing to keep in mind is that these investigations
take time. We have seen wildly varying numbers of dead and
Ebola-stricken ill reported; there appears also to be an epidemic
of gastrointestinal disease occurring as well, and no assurance
that early reports were tracking these outbreaks independently.
The true numbers and true story will doubtlessly emerge within
a few weeks after the outbreak burns out, and after the press
has gone home. It will be of great interest to hear what
actually happened.
