What do you mean by specific?  Obviously not antigenic specificity.
Is this a comment on the dogs or on the test?  When I get time, I'll
do a Science Citation on this, and hopefully someone has looked into
this since it's publication in 1990.  I did hear from a colleague that
many animals in contact with humans have antibodies to human proteins.
These data were also obtained with the recombinant antigens, which
are normally cited as improving (and indirectly validating) the test.
