Virus Pictures

Dear Thorben (and the rest of the plant virologists on this list)

Returning to you today in the post are the EM pictures which you sent of
the different virus groups. The quality of these pictures was very good,
and most of the major plant virus groups were represented, thank you very
much.

I have scanned the pictures, and enclosed in your parcel are 8 floppy disks
containing TIFF format image files at 180 dpi resolution. Ignore the fact
that they are on recycled Mac system disks - they are really formatted for
your PC!

When I have the tutorial software for the undergraduates finished I will
send you a copy (ToolBook for PC format).

You might want to think about making these images more widely available by
putting a GIF or PICT format copy onto Jean-Yves Sgro's ftp server (or the
Australian repository of all virological knowledge! [I've bin gopherin'
again :)]) - since you own the images this would be your choice, but I
could upload them for you if you would like this to happen (and it is OK
with Jean-Yves as well!).

Any other plant virologists, I now have scanned EM images of
representatives of these groups:

Tobamovirus
Closterovirus
Alfalfa mosaic
Cucumovirus
Potyvirus
Tymovirus
Rhabdovirus
Comovirus
Potexvirus
Carlavirus
Tobravirus
Nepovirus

If any of you can provide images of the missing groups I would be more than
grateful (and you will get copies of the scanned images back to play with)!

Thanks,

Cris
