Recombinant HSV Strains

I was reading info on the Austrailian Virus Gopher and came upon a listing
of Human herperesvirus types. There were several references to HSV 1 & 2
recombinant types which were alleged to be avirulant and provide immunity
to attacks by wild strains of both viruses. All of the strains were
patented as well. 

I am curious as to whether there are any clinal trials of these in progress.
