ARE THERE "FREEWARE" PLASMID PROGRAMS??

It struck me as ironic that there is such in-depth discussion of commercial
programs for plasmid mapsping and sequence management, yet probably the
most sophisticated programs that one can use on a desktop, namely MacInPlot
and the other 3-D molecular diagrams from Yves et al, are available for
free by ftp. I reckon this group, if any, would know about such programs. 
Or do I take the absence of such discussion as an indication that the
commercial suppliers have this all tied up????
